Lizzie Knowles
Lizzie (she/her) is quickly approaching her graduation from the Masters in Arts and Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University. Lizzie holds inclusivity, creativity, and collaboration as her priorities when working with all clients, and encourages them to share their unique perspectives when working together.
Lizzie’s approach is trauma-informed, and she is committed to maintaining a safer space. During her graduate practicum, Lizzie worked at a support circle with wraparound care as a therapist for folks from all walks of life, and found herself drawn to those who are neurodivergent, or who have survived a trauma of some kind. This work was invaluable, as it only extended her empathy and her drive to support folks going through difficult areas of life.
Lizzie believes that every person has a distinct and incomparable story to tell, and she wants to hear it! Together, Lizzie will work with her clients to connect to their stories, and make necessary rewrites through different exercises and interventions. She is committed to offering a warm, steady, and sturdy hand to those who wish to work together. Lizzie’s life experience allows her to be flexible and understanding, creating space for clients to move at whatever pace they feel most comfortable.
When working alongside her clients, Lizzie’s approach is person-centered in nature. She works using an integrative approach, including the utilization of Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT), Solution-focused therapy, and more. Most often, she works within a Narrative approach. As an artist herself, Lizzie includes imaginative and creative tools in her practice, tailoring her client’s experience to feel one of a kind and deeply personal. Lizzie is open to working with clients of all ages and backgrounds through individual, family, or couple counselling.
