Counselling for Children

Our counselling services for children provide a safe, nurturing environment where kids can explore their feelings, behaviours, and experiences. Using developmentally appropriate, evidence-informed approaches—such as play therapy, expressive techniques, and creative interventions—our therapists help children express themselves, develop coping strategies, and navigate challenges in a supportive way.

We believe that using play-focused approaches can give children an encouraging space to grow and succeed, with sessions focused on empowering children to understand their emotions, strengthen resilience, and build the skills needed to face life’s challenges with confidence.

Is Counselling for Children right for you?

Gentle, supportive care for children and the people who love them.

Child counselling isn’t about labeling or fixing a child. It’s about helping children feel safe, understood, and supported as they navigate emotions, behaviour, and life experiences.

Parents often seek counselling when a child is experiencing big emotions, anxiety, changes in behaviour, difficulty at school, challenges with friendships, or transitions at home. Counselling provides a developmentally appropriate space — often using play-based or creative approaches — to help children express themselves and build healthy coping skills.

If you’re unsure whether counselling is the right step, we invite you to start with a complimentary consultation to explore what support might look like for your child.

Child counselling may be a good fit if your child is:

Experiencing anxiety, sadness, or irritability

Struggling with behavioural challenges at home or school

Having difficulty with social skills or peer relationships

Facing changes or transitions, such as a move, family separation, or grief

Finding it hard to express feelings or manage big emotions

Needing support to develop confidence, focus, or coping skills

No diagnosis is required—counselling can benefit any child who would like additional support navigating life’s challenges.

Through counselling, children can:

Learn to identify and express their emotions safely

Build healthy coping and self-regulation skills

Improve social skills and relationships with family and peers

Gain confidence, resilience, and a sense of control

Navigate difficult experiences in a safe, supportive environment

Strengthen problem-solving and self-awareness skills

Our therapists collaborate with families—and, when appropriate, schools or other care providers—to provide consistent, holistic support for each child’s growth and well-being.
